Harshil Ajitbhai Makwana, an infant aged one year from Kardej village of Bhavnagar was suffering from a congenital deformity. He had a problem of cleft lip and cleft palate from birth. After his birth at Civil Hospital in Bhavnagar, the doctor referred him to Ahmedabad for a surgery as but being a diamond labourer, his father knew they cannot afford any expensive surgery.
The parents kept worrying because Harshil was not able to eat, drink or swallow properly because of his disability. One day, when his father was returning from his work a relative told him about a congenital deformity camp, which was to be organized in Bhavnagar at PNR Hospital, with financial support of Astral Foundation.
They consulted Dr. Naresh Wadhwa in the camp on 08th December, 2020 and doctor advised them for cleft lip surgery. Harshil’s parents were hesitant initially but doctor counselled them and they agreed upon performing an operation. They were sent for Harshil’s necessary pathology reports for paediatric reference and once Dr. Wadhwa gave consent on being medically fit, Harshil was operated on 01st of January, 2021 of cleft lip successfully.
His father is relieved now after a successful operation and thanked PNR Society and Astral Foundation profusely saying this kind of camps and surgeries have proved to be a blessing for the people who can’t afford such expensive surgeries. He is also grateful to PNR Society and Astral Foundation, Ahmedabad for their contribution to society for such a noble cause.
